ISO9660 preserving RMS file attributes

LJK/CDROM formats standard ISO9660 volumes while preserving information for full access to RMS sequential, relative and indexed files by VMS version 6.1 and above. A single disc can be used for access to those attributes by VMS and raw file access by other operating systems.

verification of the ISO9660 format

LJK/CDROM will report on the validity of a volume when compared to the ISO9660 standard. This verification capability is available to all who have a copy of the software under a no-charge license that requires no Product Access Key (PAK). Having a "second opinion" provides feedback regarding whether controls on some other formatting program have been used correctly to create a volume that is compliant with the ISO9660 standard. For those who use LJK/CDROM for formatting, the verification capability is invoked automatically after the formatting.

supporting the Microsoft Joliet format

LJK/CDROM will format and verify Joliet format ISO9660 hierarchies so long as the metadata characters are restricted to those which have 8-bit ANSI equivalents.

supporting the Unix Rock Ridge format

LJK/CDROM will format and verify your choice of Rock Ridge version 1.09 or version 1.12 (the latter in combination with the System Use Sharing Protocol).

using your existing hardware writing tools

LJK/CDROM does not interface directly to CD-R or DVD-R hardware. It creates volume images for writing by other tools.

comparing ISO9660 volumes

LJK/CDROM can be used to perform a logical comparison between two ISO9660 volumes, to ensure intended differences are the only differences.

formatting ISO9660 volume sets

LJK/CDROM can be used to create multivolume sets in cases where the data will not all fit onto a single volume. This includes automatically splitting large individual files across ISO9660 volume set members.

expanding ISO9660 volume sets

LJK/CDROM can be used to expand existing volume sets, taking advantage of the ability of the ISO9660 format to add to a volume set even though the earlier volumes are read-only.

technical support

Internet email technical support is provided to paying customers for the duration of the right to use new versions they have purchased.

licensing

LJK/CDROM is licensed in three forms:

A no-charge license for just the verification function of LJK/CDROM is available to anyone who has a copy of the distribution media (and exact duplication of the distribution media is allowed so long as it follows the stipulations in the Licensing appendix to the documentation). This is intended for those who already have their own preferred method of creating ISO9660 volumes (or want to check on their vendors).

A VMS Hobbyist license is available for home hobbyist use that does not involve receiving any compensation. To take advantage of that license, the machine running LJK/CDROM must be licensed under the OpenVMS Hobbyist program from HP.

A Standard LJK/CDROM license can be purchased from LJK Software under the schedule shown below.
